Planning and Zoning
The Hamlin County Planning and Zoning Office is contracted with First District of Watertown.
Under county ordinance, citizens and businesses are required to obtain a building permit through the Planning and Zoning Office.
Building Permits within Bryant, Castlewood, Estelline, Hayti, Hazel and Lake Norden must contact the respective city offices.
Building Permits within Dempster, Thomas, Lake Poinsett, and Rural Hamlin County shall contact the County Planning & Zoning Office.
Zoning Board meets the fourth Monday (subject to change) of every month if there are hearings. Contact Planning & Zoning office for meeting information or check local newspapers for postings.
