The State's Attorney's Office serves the citizens of Hamlin County as the chief prosecutor for criminal case within the county.

The State’s Attorney has the exclusive and statutory responsibility for prosecuting violations of the criminal laws of the State of South Dakota, as well as many other regulatory laws of the state and county including traffic regulations.

In addition of prosecuting criminal matters, the State's Attorney Office is responsible for providing legal advice and representation to the Hamlin County Board of Commissioners, other county elected and appointed department heads and staff members.
